People in Assam are faced unimaginable difficulties because of the floods that came at a time of the coronavirus crisis, otherwise, floods are nothing new for Assam state. This year, however, compounded by the coronavirus crisis.

 

Highlights:

• Over 50 lakh, people in Assam have been affected by the floods.

• Over 28 districts have been affected in the state.

• The death toll due to the floods has gone up to 150+.

• The floodwaters have submerged 212K hectares of croplands and affected 4,053 villages under 60 revenue circles in the flood-hit districts.

• A total of 30K people have taken shelter at 300+ relief camps and many others still taking shelter on roads, embankments, and other safer places.

• The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has added to the challenge, particularly in the flood relief camps.
